My research is focused on the broader field of Empirical Software Engineering. My primary research interest lies at the intersection of software engineering and cognitive psychology, with a particular focus on early-stage requirements engineering, software design and software quality management. Further, I am interested to understand the concept of creativity in software engineering and aim to develop an evidence-based understanding of applying techniques, procedures and theories of creativity to improve software quality, reliability and productivity. I am also interested to develop and improve the methods for interdisciplinary software engineering research in the larger context of empirical software engineering methodologies.
At fortiss GmbH, I mainly explore the emergent issues in real-world (i.e. industrial) scenarios dealing with early requirements engineering, develop solutions, empirically evaluate these solutions and transfer the knowledge back to the software industry with an overall goal to achieve high-quality software systems.
I am also interested in various aspects of software engineering, such as:
- Investigating the behavioural and psychological factors affecting software practitioners and designers.
- Developing data-driven requirements engineering practices.
- Developing debiasing techniques/interventions to improve creative software products and practices.
- Investigating the effects of intertemporal discounting on critical decision making during software development.
- Introducing the concept of design-thinking in software engineering.
